About Me

Berin Kinsman has been a roleplaying gamer since 1978, when he first got his hands on Dungeons & Dragons. He started UncleBear in 1996, before the word “blog” even existed, specifically to write about roleplaying games and related geek stuff.  WIRED’s Geek Dad blog named UncleBear as one of Five Great Blogs About Role-playing Games and Berin as one of 100 Geeks You Should Be Following on Twitter, stating “Father figure of the RPG bloggers. Has been blogging about RPG’s for about 13 years and there isn’t anything he doesn’t know about the subject.” Kobold Quarterly referred to him as One of the biggest and best RPG bloggers“.

In addition to UncleBear, Berin writes a regular gaming column for Examiner.com. He is a Marshal with the Southern Arizona Gamers Association, and a member of the RPG Bloggers Network. He can be heard as a regular guest on the Pulp Gamer – Out of Character podcast, and has been a guest poster for the popular Musings of the Chatty DM blog and the Ennie Award-nominated Critical Hits.  Some of his best work can currently be seen in Open Game Table: The Anthology of RPG Blogs, available from Indie Press Revolution, Lulu and Amazon.

Berin currently resides in Tucson, Arizona.
